The Agency

A boutique, integrated communications agency based in a highly desirable Central London location requires a talented to work on several ground-breaking client accounts covering drinks, retail and FMCG.

The agency work across ALL of the channels – advertising, direct marketing, digital marketing, print, outdoor and boast excellent planning, creative and strategic credentials.

The Role

The agency is looking to hire a highly competent Head of Design, with a very strong digital focus, on a permanent basis.

Despite digital experience and know-how being central to this role, the agency does still require the Head of Design to be able to  think in a graphic way, so could turn their hand to design for print, logos, typography etc .

The team is made up of another Designer and a Junior Designer. The role reports into the Digital Director and Creative Director.

Key projects for the Head of Design will include building a new global web portal and global web site for an exciting FMCG brand  (and all ensuing digital communications), design and (overseeing) build of a new website for a financial account and a large cloud-based project.

You will be working with some of the best Creatives (including a few Creative luminaries who are friends of the agency!) in the business and some of the very best Planners too.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate for this exciting Head of Design position will be able to input credibly with information architecture (the Digital Director can wireframe however he requires user-experience and design-led assistance).

The Head of Design must have considerable experience coming up with visually appealing, brilliantly executed user-lead solutions spanning websites, Flash banners, Facebook posts , Facebook apps, Email, DM and Graphic Design.

Culturally, the ideal candidate will be well-suited to a small agency. He/she will have a greater responsibility for managing their own time and adapting to changing briefs than commonly found in larger agencies.

The Head of Design needs to be:

  • A digital thinker and social media enthusiast
  • Proficient in UX/IA. They will not be doing the role of an IA but they should always have this front of mind when designing
  • Aware of technical requirements in digital design, particularly websites  
  • Proactive – we want suggestions and ideas of how to improve communications and generate new content
  • Conceptual thinker. He/she will be coming up with reactive, original content for Facebook which requires a hybrid Art Director and Design role
