Superb, direct-marketing led, multi-award winning consultancy seeks a talented Account Director to work on one of the agency’s most profitable and important accounts.
Reporting and Context for the Account Director Role
The Account Director position reports into a Managing Partner.
The successful Account Director will have direct line management responsibility for an Account Manager and will work hand-in-glove with a Digital Project Manager and the agency’s Joint-Head of Planning.
The agency have an incredibly strong relationship with their client and have established trust as a strategic partner which has enabled them to deliver creative work that has been recognised at award shows such as the DMA’s.
The Account Director opportunity is to work across a mix of digital work that ranges from campaign sites, though to ongoing .com content and direct mail.
In addition the agency work very closely with other key strategic agencies and are jointly working across a number of initiatives. The atmosphere between agencies is genuinely one of friendship and respect – no egos, no land grabs – the way interagency working was meant to be!
This means that the successful Account Director will be someone who is as comfortable talking websites as they are test plans for direct mail – and on top of that they’re someone that’s intelligent, proactive and likeable.

The Account Director Role
As the Account Director you’ll own, manage and grow the relationship with your clients. It represents an opportunity to run your own piece of business and truly manage it as if it was your own.
You’ll ideally need financial services, or business-to-business marketing knowledge so that you can hit the ground running. And, if you don’t possess this you’ll need to demonstrate a passion to learn it quickly.
You’ll be a natural strategist as you’ll be working hand-in-glove with the planning team on strategic proposals and responses to brief: product launch, contact strategy, DM optimisation, digital user journeys, social media planning etc.
You’re equally comfortable discussing and proposing ideas on your own e.g. to the Head of Commercial and his direct reports.
As such you’re fluent in using PowerPoint and also competent in using Excel (e.g. results analysis, using numbers to support the sell in of a big creative idea etc.)
You are outgoing and a natural people person. Clients love you; your Account Manager learns from you, the agency rates you.
You’re a diplomat, able to build strong alliances within and without the agency, especially maintaining the agency’s strong inter-agency relationships.
It goes without say that you have a proven track record of delivering campaigns across direct and digital, this is familiar ground for you. You’re ability to deliver on time and on budget are unquestionable.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring that the quality of briefs is of the highest order. You will be expected to be able to help unearth insights that unlock effective creative work.
You’ll be responsible for managing the forecast, overseeing the financial WIPs together with your Account Manager and work to help the agency achieve their revenue and profitability targets.
You’ve read all of the above, and are maybe even a bit scared by the challenge, and are totally up for it!
